Welcome to talukdar photography

Welcome to my online photography portfolio. I am by no means a professional. I happen to have an interest in photography, a little spare time, some fairly decent tools, a reasonable level of technical know-how, and the need to be able to take some time out every now and then with the aforementioned decent tools. My day job has little need for the skills associated with photography; but it does allow me to travel periodically to take some time out and capture a few halfway decent images. I started taking photographs in 2001 - mostly as a result of being inspired by a friend of mine - and try to keep up every now and then.

Previous incarnations of this site have hosted a holistic repository of every halfway decent image that I had capture. This avatar contains a lot fewer incarnations. I will only be maintaining galleries of the past 12 months (or so) of photographs in the form of galleries, while archiving the most popular. I will also be periodically adding the odd tutorial or review which will hopefully be handy for the enthusiast who might happen to stop by.

The images on this site are free to use for desktop backgrounds, avatars, and non-commerical purposes - although I would appreciate a citation wherever used. They are not to be used for any commerical purposes (such as, but not limited to calendars, coffee mugs, mouse mats, postcards and so on). However, if you would like to use a specific image for commercial purposes, or would like a print of a specific image, contact me, and we can work something out.

In the meantime, enjoy the images!

The Big Wheel on Princes Walk
The Big Wheel on Princes Walk

Princes Walk runs along the north edge of the Yarra, from Federation Square on Swanston Street, running towards the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The sandy bank lies across the river from the Alexandria Gardens and is one of the more pleasant walks that one can take on a Melbourne evening.

Work in progress

You may well have noticed that several things have changed around the site. It was high time for a facelift. I hadn't been able to take care of the site since I moved to Australia.

In addition, my former ISP also had technical issues knocking out the databases that housed my former siterunning WordPress integrated with Gallery2.

This new site will only host the previous  10 to 20 photo galleries, after which the best images will be archived based on theme. I will also be including tutorials, and hardware reviews for those of you who might be interested, or curious about how things are done.

What's coming soon

The following items are next up on the agenda...

  • The archives - a collection of the best pictures from the last 6 years.
  • A tutorial covering the introduction to High Dynamic Range imagining.
  • Reviews of the last few cameras I have owned.
  • More details on the equipment that I use.
  • Tips for starting an online photography portfolio
Stay tuned to this site... Cool
